University of Wisconsin's President Jay Rothman requests $855M in new state funding for tuition prevention, raises, and branch campus maintenance, with no 2026-27 tuition increase if approved.

University of Wisconsin's President Jay Rothman is seeking $855 million in new state funding to prevent tuition hikes, offer faculty and staff raises, and maintain two-year branch campuses. The proposal would be included in the 2025-27 state budget, with President Rothman stating that he would not seek a tuition increase for the 2026-27 academic year if the requested funds are approved. The additional funding would also help fund the Wisconsin Tuition Promise, a program that covers tuition and fees for lower-income students, and pay for an 8% salary increase for faculty and staff over the biennium.
