Malta's Enemalta installs €37M 60MW emergency power plant as backup until 2027 interconnector completion.

Malta's Enemalta, the national energy provider, has installed a €37 million emergency 60MW power plant, supplied by UNEC Ltd, as a backup in case of electricity generation failure. This temporary plant will operate until the completion of the second Malta-Sicily interconnector, expected by 2027. Enemalta has spent €55 million this year on reinforcing its electricity infrastructure, including new medium voltage cables and substations, and plans to continue the work on the island of Gozo.
