30.5-hour China patrol in Taiwan Straits boosts traffic management and emergency rescue capabilities amid fishing season risk.
China's Ministry of Transport conducted a 30.5-hour patrol and law enforcement operation in the Taiwan Straits from August 17 to 18, 2024. This operation was carried out by the Fujian Maritime Safety Administration and the East China Sea rescue bureau, focusing on enhancing traffic management and emergency rescue capabilities. The patrol was initiated due to an increased risk of collisions involving a large number of fishing ships that entered the Taiwan Straits following the start of the fishing season on August 16. The operation covered a total distance of 413 nautical miles, ensuring the safety of vessels, facilities, and personnel in the area.
