30-year-old left-handed pitcher Tyler Gilbert has been selected by the Philadelphia Phillies from Triple-A Lehigh Valley, after a minor league trade with the Cincinnati Reds. Since joining Lehigh Valley, Gilbert has made 27 relief appearances, recording a 4-0 win-loss record and a 2.06 ERA with 48 strikeouts and six walks. The Phillies aim to use Gilbert as a multi-inning relief role player, as their bullpen has the third-worst ERA (5.32) in baseball since the All-Star break.
