Singapore's PM announces a revised Gifted Education Programme, replacing centralized placement with tailored programmes in each primary school.
Singapore's Prime Minister, Lawrence Wong, announced an update to the Gifted Education Programme (GEP) in primary schools during his National Day Rally speech. The new approach, set to replace the current system, will see each primary school offering tailored programmes for high-ability learners, rather than students being placed in just 9 primary schools. This change will allow gifted students to remain in their original primary schools, continuing with friends and teachers they have bonded with, benefiting more students with every primary school creating its own programmes to stretch pupils in their areas of strength and interest.
