Punjab's crop diversification drive has resulted in a 12.58% increase in basmati cultivation area during the kharif season, with long-grain rice cultivation expanding to 6.71 lakh hectares. Direct Seeding of Rice (DSR) acreage has grown by 46.5% to over 2.52 lakh acres. The state has banned 10 pesticides to improve basmati export quality to world-class standards.
