Uttar Pradesh maintains tax waiver for hybrid cars, favoring Toyota over Tata and Mahindra.

Uttar Pradesh, India's most populous state, has decided against reversing its decision to waive registration taxes for hybrid cars, potentially hindering Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra, while benefitting Toyota. The state's government confirmed there would be no rollback during a meeting with state officials and automakers. The zero-registration tax policy for strong hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles will remain until October 2025, with a no-road tax policy for electric vehicles.
