33-year-old Sudbury man Cody Ethier faces 18-month jail sentence for 2024 crimes, including breaking into a Greater Sudbury restaurant with a rifle. Ethier, who was addicted to drugs, pleaded guilty to six charges, including theft, break-enter and commit an indictable offence, possession of a firearm without a licence, and breach of probation. Justice Julie Lefebvre expressed concern about Ethier's involvement with guns during his drug addiction. He will serve the sentence at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre to access addiction treatment, and an 18-month probation order, a five-year weapons ban, and a DNA order have been imposed.
