China's foreign exchange system announced new central parity rates of the yuan against 25 major currencies on 5th August, including the US dollar, HK dollar, and Pataca. The yuan's rate against the US dollar is based on a weighted average of prices offered by market makers each business day before the interbank market opens. The rates against the HK dollar and Pataca depend on these factors as well as the respective exchange rates at 9 am on the same day.
