A humpback whale missing its tail has been spotted off Vancouver Island, raising concerns about human impact on humpback populations in BC waters. Whale watcher Stephen Gabrysh observed the emaciated whale exhibiting odd behaviour, such as slow movement and partial dives without its fluke surfacing. The whale later completed a "more traditional humpback dive," revealing a stump where its tail should have been.
