2 juvenile humpback whales with skin lesions and previous entanglements found dead in Virginia Beach; cause of death unknown.
Necropsies for two juvenile humpback whales found dead in Virginia Beach have been completed, but the cause of death remains unknown. Both whales, measuring 32ft and 27ft, had abnormal skin lesions and evidence of previous entanglements. The Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center's Stranding Response team is analyzing tissue samples, photos, and data collected to determine the cause of death.
