US Air Force reaches "affordable" deal with Boeing for E-7 Wedgetail AWACS production, replacing E-3 Sentry planes.

The US Air Force has reached an "affordable" deal with Boeing for the supply of E-7 Wedgetail airborne warning and control aircraft, replacing the Cold War-era E-3 Sentry or AWACS planes. The agreement covers the production of prototypes and follows price dispute negotiations. A formal contract will be finalised in August, according to Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall.
