US Army honors Japanese-American WWII unit for their role in liberating Italy and France, despite families being interned at home as enemies. The 442nd Regimental Combat Team, composed of 2nd generation American soldiers of Japanese ancestry, was the most decorated unit in US military history for its size and length of service. Their relatives attended a commemoration at Camp Darby, Tuscany, ahead of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Livorno, Italy.
