Mama grizzly and cubs return to Jasper National Park, prompting road gate closure for foot/bike traffic.

A mama grizzly and her two young cubs, relocated 70 km from Jasper townsite last year, have returned to their original stomping grounds in the valley bottom of the Henry House area. Jasper National Park officials have kept the Lac Beauvert access road gate down indefinitely, allowing only foot or bicycle traffic. The goal is to avoid habituation by preventing large vehicle jams and having bears near roadways.
