Jasper National Park in Canada reopened for residents only on Aug 16, with non-residents and media asked to give townspeople space after wildfires destroyed a third of the townsite. Parks Canada implemented a system for resident re-entry and RCMP checkpoints were set up. A state of emergency remains in place, with residents advised to mentally prepare for returning and to follow instructions for exiting the town.
