210,000 SIM cards blocked by Pakistan's tax authority, FBR, for non-filing tax return users.

Pakistan's tax authority, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), has blocked 210,000 SIM cards of users who did not file tax returns, aiming to encourage tax payment and widen the revenue bracket. Out of over 240 million people, only 5.2 million filed income tax returns in 2022. The FBR issued the directive in April, and 62,000 of the blocked SIM cards have since been restored for those who paid their taxes.
