The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) in Pakistan has planned to block 500,000 mobile phone SIMs of non-filers and under-filers after Eidul Fitr. The move is part of efforts to tackle tax evasion. The FBR has finalised preparations in consultation with Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to identify 400,000 under-filers who have not filed their returns despite having taxable income. Another 100,000 non-filers will also have their SIMs blocked.
