Woman dies in climbing accident on Mount Ruapehu: A climber died after falling during a climb on Mount Ruapehu's eastern side, near Whangaehu Hut. The woman slipped and fell, suffering serious injuries. Emergency services, helicopter, and rescue team members responded but couldn't save her. A rahui is in place for the mountain's easter slopes above 2000m until 6am on July 2.
