NHS England secures a £2.6m gene therapy for Haemophilia B, cheaper than lifetime factor injections.
NHS England has secured a "transformative" gene therapy treatment for Haemophilia B at £2.6m per patient, significantly cheaper than lifetime factor injections costing £150k-£200k. The treatment aims to cure the blood disorder through a single treatment, and NHS plans to treat around 250 of the estimated 2,000 people with Haemophilia B in the UK, with not everyone suitable due to age or other health conditions.
