Indian scientists completed India's first human clinical trial of gene therapy for Haemophilia A using lentiviral vector technology.

Indian scientists at CMC Vellore completed the country's first human clinical trial of gene therapy for Haemophilia A, a genetic disorder affecting around 136,000 people in India. The trial used a novel lentiviral vector technology to express FVIII transgene in patients' haematopoietic stem cells. The Minister of Science & Technology announced that the vector manufacturing will soon commence in India, paving the way for further clinical trials.
