A home-cooked, quarter-pound hamburger with cheese, tomato, and lettuce will run $2.16, compared to an average $6.95 at a restaurant. Despite a slight increase in prices for popular summer foods like ice cream and potato chips, cooking at home remains significantly cheaper for the July 4th holiday.
