J&K Chief Secretary calls for strengthening GLOF prevention measures and establishes a team of experts led by glaciologists.
J&K Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo underscored the need to review and strengthen measures to prevent Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOF) at a meeting with stakeholders. Dulloo emphasized conducting in-depth studies by expert glaciologists to develop strategies to avert such natural disasters in Jammu and Kashmir. The Department of Disaster Management was directed to establish a team of experts, including glaciologists, to conduct expeditions to glacial lakes.
