Centre amends rules to provide 6 months maternity leave for surrogate mothers and 15 days paternity leave for fathers in government services.
Centre amends rules to grant 6 months maternity leave for women government employees who have children through surrogacy. The amendment also allows commissioning mothers with less than two surviving children 180 days of maternity leave, and commissioning fathers to take 15 days of paternity leave within six months of the child's birth. Previously, there were no rules for maternity leaves in surrogacy cases for government employees. The changes were made to the Central Civil Services (Leave) Rules, 1972.
