Chinese #MeToo journalist Huang Xueqin, known for her work on sexual abuse cases in China, has been sentenced to five years in prison for "inciting subversion of state power." The 36-year-old Huang, who had been one of the most prominent voices in China's #MeToo movement, was convicted alongside labor activist Wang Jianbing, who received a three-and-a-half-year sentence. Both trials were closed-door hearings, and the exact reasons for their charges of subversion remain unclear. The two activists are expected to appeal their sentences.
