All Pakistan Newspaper Society (APNS) has rejected a 10% GST on newsprint imports, stating it would harm the already struggling print media industry. APNS President Nazafreen Saigol Lakhani and Secretary Sarmad Ali argue that the newsprint and other inputs used by newspapers are imported, and the depreciation of Pakistani rupee has increased production costs. The society urges the Federal Government to keep the GST exemption for print media.
