A freighter ship named Michipicoten, carrying 22 people and taconite, collided with an unidentified underwater object in Lake Superior, 35 miles southwest of Isle Royale, Michigan. The ship began taking on water but no spillage was reported. Water pumps on board helped reduce the listing of the freighter from 15 degrees to 5 degrees by 9:15 a.m. The Coast Guard and rescue crews are responding to the situation.
