275kV substation construction at IAMP, Sunderland, to power £1bn EV hub and support job growth.

National Grid is constructing a 275kV substation at the International Advanced Manufacturing Park (IAMP) in Sunderland, set for completion in 2026. The substation, with three 100-tonne supergrid transformers, will power a £1bn electric vehicle (EV) hub, EV36Zero, and other IAMP developments, including Nissan and AESC UK. This project will support job growth and boost the region's energy network.
