South Carolina's potential underwater fate due to rising sea levels, with Charleston experiencing a 7.1-inch rise since 2010.

A South Carolina map reveals the state's potential underwater fate due to rising sea levels. Sea levels in Charleston rose by 7.1 inches between 2010 and 2023, four times the rate of the past 30 years. According to the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), global sea levels could rise by up to 3.6 feet by 2100 if greenhouse gas emissions aren't reduced; a rise of about 6.6 feet is also projected.
