12-year-old Bruhat Soma from Tampa, Florida won the Scripps National Spelling Bee, correctly spelling 29 words in a lightning-round tiebreaker to secure victory over Faizan Zaki. Soma, who had previously won three consecutive spelling bees, received a trophy and over $50,000 in cash and prizes for his win. The competition, which featured the fewest finalists since 2010, took place at a convention center outside Washington, D.C.
