The Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) welcomes a $30.848m investment in emergency department (ED) safety in the 2024 budget, addressing rising violence in EDs. The investment provides 44 security staff across eight NZ hospitals, with further funding for regional EDs and training support for staff. ACEM will work with the government to ensure 24/7 security in all EDs in Aotearoa New Zealand.
