Minnesota invests $30 million in EMS, but providers still face funding gaps and challenges.

Minnesota recently invested $30 million in emergency medical services (EMS), with $24 million going to various providers and $6 million to a new paramedic deployment pilot. Despite this, ambulance services received less than half of the funds billed to insurance in 2023. The investment was distributed based on call volume, population, and area size. However, ongoing challenges like aging population, low reimbursement rates, and rural service needs mean more funding is still required.
