Tokyo Medical and Dental University researchers discovered a method to generate autologous skin grafts using donor keratinocytes injected into mouse embryos.

Tokyo Medical and Dental University researchers discovered that donor keratinocytes injected into mouse embryos form sheets of epidermis that can be used as autologous skin grafts. This new technique could improve the success of skin graft generation, especially for extensive wounds where donor skin is limited. Growing donor skin in another species yields robust and functional skin grafts.
