Scientists have created lab-spun sponges as perfect scaffolds for growing skin cells that could be used in skin grafts. Electrospinning created 3D structures for growing skin cells from patients' own skin, with findings showing that the cells were twice as viable as those grown on 2D films. This technique is simple, scalable, and cheap, paving the way for better and faster treatment of chronic wounds.
