2024's Dublin Literary Award winner, Romanian author Mircea Cărtărescu's "Solenoid", translated by Seán Cotter, is set in communist Romania and explores themes of life under the regime, education, and family life. This marks the first Romanian-translated novel to win the award, which is the world's largest prize for a single novel in English. Cărtărescu and Cotter will each receive €75,000 and €25,000, respectively, for the win.
