The Novo Nordisk Foundation commits DKK 150M ($22M) to the first phase of Denmark's Microbiome Health Initiative, a virtual research center at the Technical University of Denmark. Led by Professors Fredrik Bäckhed and Tine Rask Licht, the initiative aims to explore gut bacteria's role in cardiometabolic diseases (CMD) such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. The project will collaborate with international scientists and clinicians, with Phase 1 running from 2024-2028.
