3 energy companies invest in capturing landfill gas for renewable natural gas production to reduce U.S. greenhouse gas emissions.

Energy companies BP, Enbridge, and Kinder Morgan are investing in capturing landfill gas to convert it to renewable natural gas (RNG). Landfills, the 3rd largest U.S. greenhouse gas emitter, produce methane gas, which is 28x more effective at trapping heat than CO2. By burning methane as fuel, these companies aim to reduce its environmental impact and generate electricity/power commercial vehicles.
