The National Fire Ant Eradication Program (NFAEP) detected and treated two red imported fire ant nests in Meringandan West, Toowoomba, using liquid insecticide. The nests, found by an odour detection dog team, were not linked to a recent detection in Oakey. NFAEP said the discovery demonstrates the decision to strengthen the national program's compliance function to address spread through human-assisted movement is the right one.
