Italy transfers female bear JJ4, who killed a jogger, to German sanctuary after legal battle.
Italy will transfer a female bear, known as JJ4, that killed a jogger in the Italian Alps last year to a sanctuary in Germany. Authorities from the northern Italian province of Trento confirmed the bear's relocation after a legal battle led by environmentalists halted a death sentence. The bear will be moved to the Worbis Alternative Bear Park in the central German state of Thuringia after an animal rights group secured access to medical bulletins showing the bear and another were held in captivity in a state of severe stress.
