Romania has lifted its 2016 hunting ban, allowing the killing of 481 bears this year due to a growing population and increased human-bear conflicts. The Libearty bear sanctuary, concerned about more orphaned cubs needing shelter, is advocating for better management methods like education and installing electric fences. The sanctuary, one of the largest in Europe, already cares for 128 brown bears.
