Obese individuals are 147% more likely to take more sick days and be off work longer than people of normal weight, according to a Europe-wide study. Researchers from the Institute for Advanced Studies in Vienna analyzed data from the European Health Interview Survey (EHIS 3) involving 122,598 responses. The study found that the economic consequences of obesity are significant and policymakers are urged to take more action.
