Study finds six-fold increased obesity risk in middle age with both obese parents, three-fold with one obese parent.

New research indicates that individuals have a six times higher chance of experiencing obesity in middle age if both of their parents lived with obesity during the same period. Having one obese parent increases the odds by a factor of three. The study, set to be presented at the European Congress on Obesity, explores the intergenerational transmission of obesity and aims to determine if this association continues past adolescence and into adulthood.
