A B.C. Supreme Court judge, Justice Kevin Loo, has reserved his decision on the City of Surrey's petition to quash Public Safety Minister Mike Farnworth's order for the RCMP to be replaced by the Surrey Police Service. The five-day hearing concluded on May 3, following Loo listening to final submissions from the parties involved. The City of Surrey filed the judicial review petition to challenge the minister's order, which was issued on July 19, 2023. Justice Loo has not yet made a final decision and has expressed gratitude for the thoughtful and eloquent submissions made by all parties.
