The Surrey Police Service is set to take over policing in British Columbia's second most populous city from the RCMP on November 29, but an agreement on the division of responsibilities has yet to be finalized. Surrey Police Chief Norm Lipinski expects the deal to be signed soon, stating that the city will be divided geographically, with the RCMP and Surrey Police each responsible for different areas. However, the RCMP's union expresses concern about the lack of clarity for its members regarding their roles post-transition.
