University of Minnesota professor Samuel Goldich discovers ilmenite similarities in West Duluth quarry rocks and Apollo 11 lunar materials.

Goldich, known for his significant developments in geochemistry, found that both the quarry's basalt and lunar soil had high concentrations of ilmenite, a mineral containing titanium, iron, and oxygen.
