Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson faces allegations of breaching UK government rules by failing to clarify his relationship with hedge fund Merlyn Advisors. Acoba Chairman Lord Pickles wrote to both Johnson and Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden warning of the breach. Johnson failed to clarify his relationship with Merlyn Advisors despite its co-founder Maarten Petermann organizing a meeting between Johnson and Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in February. The government rules state former ministers must not take up new jobs or appointments without advice from Acoba first for two years after leaving public office.
