South Dakota's Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Training Commission revoked Mellette County Sheriff Mike Blom's certification for a romantic relationship with a woman on probation and violating her terms.
South Dakota's Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Training Commission unanimously revoked Mellette County Sheriff Mike Blom's certification on April 16th due to "conduct unbecoming of a law enforcement officer." Blom allegedly engaged in a romantic relationship with a woman on probation for drug charges and violated her probation terms by buying her alcohol. The revocation does not remove Blom from office, but does remove his law enforcement power and authority, which he can appeal.
