10 years after a deadly Everest avalanche killed 16 Nepali guides, their families and survivors demand safeguards for climbers. The 2014 disaster highlighted the dangers faced by Nepali guides who help high-paying foreign climbers reach the mountain's summit. Without their critical work to carve out climbing routes, fix ropes, repair ladders, and carry heavy gear, few foreign visitors could make it to the peak.
