Poland's parliament is debating four proposals that could liberalize the country's restrictive abortion laws. Prime Minister Donald Tusk has promised to legalize abortion up to the 12th week of pregnancy, but conservative politicians within his coalition and influential lawmakers, including President Andrzej Duda, hold key positions that could impede change. Poland's abortion law, which has been in effect since 2020, is one of the most restrictive in the European Union.
