2021 Norfolk Southern train derailment-induced flooding caused a fish kill in Sulphur Run.

The U.S. EPA reported a fish kill in Sulphur Run caused by rain-induced flooding following the 2021 Norfolk Southern train derailment. The flooding connected State Line Lake to the site's freshwater bypass pond, leading fish to migrate there and be pulled into intakes. Cleanup efforts have been paused, and the EPA is set to reassess collection methods for sheen from sediments.
