Japan records a 13th consecutive month of current account surplus in February, reaching 17.4 billion USD (2.64 trillion yen). This increase is due to growing auto exports, a decrease in coal and LNG prices, and a primary income surplus of nearly 22 billion USD. The travel account also saw a surplus of 2.7 billion USD as more foreign tourists visited Japan during the Lunar New Year holidays.
